Project Overview
QHR was enlisted for the more recent conservation work to Old Bullamon Homestead with the desire to open to the public.
Queensland Heritage Restorations (QHR) was engaged to carry out a visual inspection along with the appointed heritage architect from ERM to prepare a conservation works programme based on the findings. Based on the program, a feasibility plan was put in place for the conservation work to be broken into a tree-stage process. QHR where selected to conduct works of importance for stage two of the process followed by the proposal and acceptance of stage three to be conducted later in the year.
History
State Heritage Listed Bullamon Homestead, on the Moonie River 1 kilometre (0.62 mi) southwest of Thallon was head station for the largest aggregation of leases ever recorded in Balonne Shire and illustrates the pattern of Queensland history, being closely associated with the establishment of pastoralism in the Moonie River district in the mid-19th century.
Project Phases
Stage 1: Inspection and feasibility and conservation program
Stage 2: First Stage of conservation repair roof structural work, dormer repairs, reglazing of doors, temporary support system as make safe for future works.
Stage 3: Reconstruct east and west verandah subfloor structural and verandah boards and conservation to bathhouse and outhouse structures.
