Repurposing and relocation of a P1-type hut parachute drying facility on the Commonwealth Heritage
list. This was a three-step process for which Queensland Heritage Restorations was engaged to
conduct the following.

Project Phases
Phase 1: Complete site investigations and produce a feasibility report outlining the best practice and cost-effective way forward to deliver a facility for Capital Facilities & Infrastructure Canberra (CFI) as a new facility for the Air Force Cadets.
Phase 2: On agreement to reuse the existing building, progress into design phase while following requirements of the end user and stakeholders to complete the design within the heritage impact assessment guidelines to retain and display the key heritage components which included exposing 80 percent of the original trusses exceeding the heritage requirements as well as retaining and conservation of existing drying tower and drying elements for display.
Phase 3: Complete construction project delivery phase and heritage report.

Specifications
Due to the location of the building QHR was required to adhere to internal noise criteria for building services and aircraft noise by construction of acoustic finishes required to meet the issues for speech intelligibility within classrooms and management of internal noise levels from aircraft.
